LILLIPUT 2030 AD
Dedicated to Jonathon Swift
Lilliput 2030 AD by Daniel Daly & Taylor Swift. Jack Gulliver & Alison Swift have drifted from a shipwreck onto the shores of Lilliput. They are summarily tied down by ropes by the Lilliputtians who are complaining another blasted Giant has returned, and looks similar to the last fellow. Jack and Alison, a chapter at a time by Daniel then Taylor, have to meet the challenge of Rupert Gringanel, the Friar of Goad, who unleashes his tiny blue Snorkels on the Lilliputtians to wipe out the scourge of the little people. With students of the Lilliput Academy, Jack and Alison overcome Gringanel to save Lilliput.
One of the scenes has Gringanel with his staff in front of the Arch-Bishop of Goad, slamming down his staff, swearing 'By the Power of Goad I will find and wipe out these damned Little People.' And he storms off to his catacombs. In the catacombs he has been experimenting with Mice and has managed, through incantations, to turn Mice into little Men. Bizarrely, they have come out all blue, which seems to be the taste of the Celtic god he is invoking in this witchcraft. He breeds up them and calls them 'Snorkels' and they will be his device to wipe out the little people. The little people have a history of visiting Goad and its establishments, stealing food and scaring little children. Gringanel has sworn to rid civilization of these little demons, and the Snorkels are his device to accomplish this feat.
Jack and Alison manage to pull free of the ropes tying them down. Jack looks out at the ocean. 'They said QEII was unsinkable. Another Titanic,' says Jack. 'The rest of the people must be on other islands,' replies Alison. 'These creatures? Are they the faerie folk?' 'They are the little people,' replies Jack. 'My ancestor wrote on them. Their isle is shrouded in mystery, and impossible to navigate. Only the luck of the gods – or their will – brings anyone to this place.' 'They're funny,' says Alison, picking one up. 'Put me down,' yells the Lilliputian maiden. 'Oh. Sorry,' replies Alison. 'And they speak as well.' 'Yes, he mentioned that,' said Jack. He scratched his head. 'How are we to get home?' 'I have no idea,' replied Alison. 'But I'm hungry.' Jack looks at the little people. 'Can you feed us?' 'Here we go again,' replies one of the Lilliputtians.
